The numbers don't look good for Clarksville and Montgomery County. According to a new Tennessee Bureau of Investigation report, aggravated assaults soared last year, jumping to 928 over the 625 reported by city and county officials in 2013. That's an increase of nearly 50 percent.
There are a few different arguments for publishing mugshots online and in newspapers. Some argue that the postings of the photos keeps the public informed and keeps government transparent. Others counter those arguments by pointing out that in many cases, those accused of crimes are later vindicated and that they can never redeem their good reputations.
